MIAMI GLOBAL STAGE

Communities of Afro descent especially Afro-Latin and Afro-Caribbeans live with dual identities and complex intersectionalities. Their mere existence is layered, has marginalized them and fostered shame about their Blackness throughout their lives. BLACK SPRING is AFROPUNK’s clarion call to these communities to claim, celebrate and revel in their Blackness without shame, without fear and with our embrace. BLACK SPRING is a new day to celebrate “the other” in these communities, a day to stand unapologetically in who you are, to hold many truths about yourself and beam with pride. We’re not waiting for September and the traditionality of Hispanic Heritage month, we’re making anew, our own day, to center culturally rich, beautiful, expansive and underserved Black communities of Latin, Carribean, African, Asian and other origins.
